MissionPrint was a proud sponsor of “Girls on the Turf: A Flag Football Fest,” a single-day tournament that gathered high school girls in Northeast Ohio to have fun on the field and inspire other girls to join in the excitement of flag football at the high school level.
“When we saw there were no flag football leagues for girls outside of select high school teams, Jules and I decided to do something about it,” said Nora Bruder, a freshman at Rocky River High School.
Jules and Nora, friends and AAU basketball teammates, spearheaded the tournament planning, tapping MissionPrint first for help in bringing the tournament to life through corrugated and teardrop signs, postcards, and flyers.
Girls on the Turf took shape and partnered with the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, CrossCountry Mortgage charitable foundation, CCM Cares, and the Cleveland Browns, which provided financial support, location for the tournament, and resources galore to make the event a reality.
“Our goal was to turn this event into a league the following spring for girls whose high schools didn’t offer flag football as a varsity sport. And with the support from MissionPrint and our other sponsors, we were well on our way,” said Jules Cerney, a freshman at Elyria Catholic High School.
The event took place on June 1st at the West Shore Family YMCA in Westlake, Ohio. Over 100 community members attended the event to watch 4 local teams participate.
